Age of Extinction won’t be the only place for Transformers fans to get their Dinobot fix in the coming months.
Variety reports that Hasbro Studios’ sequel to the long-running and popular Transformers: Prime series will be called Transformers: Robots in Disguise, starring Bumblebee as the leader of a young squad of Autobots, including Sideswipe (Glee‘s Darren Criss), Fixit (House of Cards’ Constance Zimmer), and an unyet named Dinobot. Transformers fans have not seen a Dinobot in animated form since Cartoon Network’s 2007 Transformers: Animated series.
Steven Melching, who has previously written for Transformers: Beast Machines and the aforementioned Animated and Prime series, will act as story editor.
Few details beyond Bumblebee’s starring role and Optimus Prime as potentially the yellow bot’s spiritual advisor have been released. The series will show how Bumblebee travels to Earth to defend the planet against a new group of Decepticons. Bumblebee’s team will also include a rebellious young robot and a Mini-Con. Expect more information about the anticipated cartoon and accompanying toyline at next week’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
The series will debut on Hub Network in Spring 2015.
